2007年の香港。危篤状態にあった幼い娘を病院に残し、自分の任務ではなかった証人警護作戦の現場へと駆り出された国際捜査官リンは、人工遺伝子に絡む陰謀に巻き込まれ、瀕死の重傷を負う。13年の時が流れた2020年のシドニー。事件を題材にした小説を出版したリンの周囲に、黒ずくめの犯罪組織や謎のハッカーなど、当時の事件に因縁のある人間たちが次々と姿を現し……。
